WHY DID NO ONE TELL ME GOT MILK? HELD A LEGIT ANTI-WOMAN RALLY?
THIS IS LIKE THE BAD MARKETING DECISION THAT KEEPS ON GIVING
ALSO I REALLY LIKE THAT THIS ARTICLE IS FILED UNDER ‘SEX CRIMES’
The new set of ‘Got Milk?’ ads has everybody talking today, and a lot of the rhetoric is taking on the sexist and plain stupid ads extremely well. Now it seems they’ve also staged a fake protest, in the name of humor because lol isn’t it funny to conceive of PMS as a man’s problem because women are just so goddamn bitchy when they get to their time, am I rite?
Ugh. Listen: it isn’t funny because this isn’t new. Men making jokes about women PMS-ing is as old as the term itself. Not only is the whole “women are so irrational lol” concept horrendously outdated and sexist (PMS is the new hysteria), but the joke itself isn’t even funny, or new. It’s a joke for men at the expense of women, and I’ll say it again: it isn’t even funny.
Of course, what they want more than anything else is people to be talking about it. So, in that way, they’re probably pretty happy right now. Here’s the website. You can go to it or not, but just know that they’re happy getting the hits right now, no matter what your opinion.

A fucking all man anti-woman protest!? Now tell me I’m being ridiculous, tell me this is all in good fun, tell me other companies are more sexist than this bullshit!

America forgot what humor was. I’m sure the milk company doesn’t actually hate women. And until bodies start showing up related to the milk companies, i don’t give a fuck.
So something is only bigoted and offensive if someone dies?
It’s a MILK company. People are offended too easily. I’m not saying it can’t be offensive, i’m poking fun at this situation. This isn’t bigoted or offensive. Women have periods, they get in shitty moods. People make fun of men just as much, in TV, and other media forms. All men want is sex and beer and blah, blah, blah. Our nation is becoming an over hormonal teenager, who takes everything way too personally. It’s not bigoted, what about how PETA strips every women nude in order to stop selling fur? That’s not bigoted either, it’s advertising, there’s nothing wrong with what’s going on here. And apparently, i study showed that milk CAN help some of the symptoms of PMS. That’s research and development for you.
Women have periods, they get in shitty moods.

Advertizing isn’t somehow exempt from the rules of common decency, sorry to say. And yes, the PETA campaigns that objectify women ARE sexist.
Common decency is ridiculous. Getting offended over every little thing is awful. If people could just laugh, the world would be a much better place. And poking a little bit of fun at the fact that women get a bit irritable during a certain time isn’t offensive. It happens, it’s okay to make a joke about something like that. All my friends with vaginas seem to find it hilarious as well, and they go through that. I can see where people may get offended, but honestly, i think this is being made WAY too big of a deal about. It’s a joke, people need to calm down. Comedians are funny because they push the envelope. They hire people specifically for these ads, to make them humorous. And next question, why are the PETA ads sexist? Those women are comfortable posing nude for a cause they believe in. It’s sexist to say they’re being objectified. They know what they’re doing, they’re adults. People need to stop getting offended over everything, and stop policing others’ bodies.
We laugh when something is funny. As most comedians will tell you, the best jokes are funny because there is truth in them. There is no truth in these ridiculous stereotypes. They are not funny, they are demeaning. Shit like this allows men to dismiss a woman’s emotions and perceptions because LOL PMS YOU’RE ALL JUST HYSTERICAL WOMEN. It’s damaging. It’s damaging to men too, because it implies that men are stupid and incapable of treating women equally.
Son, there is nothing envelope-pushing about a stereotype that has been around for centuries. This is not funny. It’s tired, over-done, provably false bullshit that should never have made it to these ads.
You don’t get to decide that something isn’t offensive if you are not the group being disparaged. And the fact that some women don’t find it offensive does not, in any way, devalue the feelings and opinions of the women who do find it offensive.
I’m not deciding it’s not offensive, i just wish people would calm down about it. It’s a milk ad, it’s a PR stunt to show that Calcium in milk can reduce symptoms of PMS. I’m pretty sure there is some truth about women getting periods and being in shitty moods, because i’ve been with people who have/do. Have dated people who have/do. Have best friends who have/do. But hey, it’s okay to be in a shitty mood. It doesn’t matter. I love them all just as much when the day is done. And there is most definitely some truth in that gender stereotype, just as there is with a lot of men just wanting to get in every one and everything’s pants. I’m not an anti-feminist, i’m a realist, and i’m making calls off of what i see day to day. I find this ad humorous. And i don’t understand why it’s being made into such a gigantic fuss.
I’m pretty sure there is some truth about women getting periods and being in shitty moods, because i’ve been with people who have/do. Have dated people who have/do. Have best friends who have/do.
Anecdotal evidence is not science. Try again.
And there is most definitely some truth in that gender stereotype
So… you don’t understand what ‘provably false’ means?
just as there is with a lot of men just wanting to get in every one and everything’s pants.
Also a provably false, damaging stereotype.
I find this ad humorous.
We call that being sexist.

I’m pretty sure it’s circumstantial. And neither are damaging stereotypes. Men are more likely to go after multiple partners. It’s part of our DNA, we as the “spreading” gender, are instinctual trying to spread out DNA to multiple partners. Are all men pigs? Nah. Would I think it’s safe to say women chase multiple partners also? Yea. Do i think men do it more often? Yes. It’s not sexist that i find this humorous. I find racial comedy funny too, does that make me racist? Even if it’s not one hundred percent true, i feel like this is based somewhat in fact. And the source you provide, yes, it’s a good source. But i could find a study that shows the opposite. Not all studies are conclusive. http://www.midlife-passages.com/page121.html According to this source, most women have a reaction of some sort. Although i don’t think either of us are changing our minds. I think this is over-hyped, non-damaging, and a pretty funny ad campaign, and you think that it’s damaging. Neither of us are right.
No, you’re wrong and also a sexist, pretty much everything you have said thus far has proven that. You might think you’re the first person to come up with such brilliant arguments like “But men are supposed to have multiple partners” and “but it’s true!” but the reality is we’ve seen them in pretty much every. single. argument about sexism. You are not unique, you are not original, you are every sexist I have ever seen.
